North-East drivers most likely to drink and drive during New Year celebrations

NEW Year revellers are being urged to refrain from the temptation of drinking and driving.

Motoring experts from the AA have predicted that drivers in the North-East of East of England, and also in London, were the most likely to get behind of the wheel while over the legal limit tonight during New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day celebrations.

And they predict that some party-goers will drink so much to see in the New Year that they will be potentially over the limit for nearly all of January 1.

Jim Kirkwood, managing director of the AA Driving School, said: “Knowledge about the risks of drink-driving is generally fairly good, but this is not the case when it comes to drivers still being over the limit the morning after. Avoid excessive drinking if you know you need to drive the following day.”
