CALLOUS thieves broke into a pensioner’s home while he was visiting his sick wife in hospital and stole his life savings.

Raiders made off with a five-figure sum from the 78-year-old’s home, say police.

The burglary happened between 1.30pm and 7.30pm on Thursday at a house in Milton Avenue, in Blackhall.

Officers say the pensioner was out of the address visiting his ill wife in hospital when the burglary occurred.

A police spokesman said: “The offenders forced entry to the house and made off with the owner’s life savings, a five-figure sum of cash.”

Police are appealing for any information or witnesses in relation to this incident.
