Police are appealing for information following two separate reports of a man acting inappropriately on a bus in Hartlepool.

Two 12-year-old girls were sitting at the back of the number 1 bus when a man got on at the stop outside of the Central Library in York Road and sat close to them. The girls reported that the man was acting in a strange manner and they believed that he was trying to look up their skirts.

They described the man as white, aged 40-50, around 6ft-tall, skinny with long messy hair and black eyebrows.

The incident happened at around 3.30pm on Thursday, September 24.

Then, at around 3.40pm on Monday, two 16 year old girls got onto the number 1 bus outside of High Tunstall School when a man got on and sat at the back near to the girls.

The girls reported that the man began to act in a strange manner, looking at the girls’ legs and rubbing the top of his legs.

The girls got off the bus because they were uncomfortable with his behaviour.

The man is described as white, in his late 30s, around 5ft 10in-tall, slim build with untidy black hair. He was wearing a black jacket and black trousers.

Officers believe the man described in each incident is the same man.

Anyone with information on these incidents, or anyone who may know who this man is can contact PC Graham Smith on 101.
