A TEENAGE girl had her head split open when a yob threw an unknown object at her while she was out walking in Hartlepool.

The 15-year-old had to have the wound glued at One Life Hartlepool after the incident at around 9.20pm on Tuesday, April 15.

The schoolgirl was walking along Brenda Road, in the town, when she came across a group of men with Lurcher dogs.

The men were wearing tracksuits and wellington boots.

Police say a member of the group then threw an object which hit her on the back of the head, causing a small deep cut.

Officers are now appealing for information and any witnesses to the incident.

Anyone with information about the identity of the men or any witnesses are asked to contact PC Holly Angus at Hartlepool Police on the non-emergency 101 number, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
