Police arrest two people in connection with chase in Hartlepool that left two officers injured

POLICE have arrested two people in connection with a chase which saw two officers needing hospital treatment.

As reported on Monday, the officers were injured after their car was rammed by a white Vauxhall Astra van after a dramatic chase in the Dyke House area of Hartlepool.

They attended hospital for minor injuries following the incident, which took place around 10.30am on Saturday.

Today, a Cleveland Police spokeswoman said two men, aged 21 and 24 were arrested in connection with the offence.

The 24-year-old was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving while disqualified and has been bailed pending further inquiries.

The 21-year-old has been released with no further police action.

The van had been pulled over in a routine check, but sped off, with police giving chase and the police helicopter and road policing units was involved in the search.
