Police probe car fire in Hartlepool

POLICE are investigating a suspicious car fire in Hartlepool.

Emergency services attended the blazing Renault Megane behind Stockton Road.

The incident happened in the Burn Valley area at around 9.30pm on Sunday.

No one was in the vehicle when the fire broke out and the incident is being treated as suspicious.

The passenger side of the car was badly damaged by the flames but the fire to the vehicle did not cause any other damage.

The fire brigade was alerted by a neighbour and crews from Stranton Fire Station attended.

A brigade spokesman said: “The passenger side of the vehicle was well alight when we arrived.

“It is being treated as suspicious at the moment and the police are investigating.”
