POLICE are appealing for information after a business premises was broken into and scaffolding was stolen from inside.

Hartlepool Police are investigating after the building, in the town’s Brenda Road, was targeted sometime over the weekend, between Friday and Sunday.

Police say a Hiab-type truck, with a lifting arm would have been used to lift the scaffolding tubes onto the vehicle.

Officers add that the locks on the front gates to the premises were snapped to gain access.

Scaffolding tubes varying in lengths of between 16ft and 31ft were stolen in the raid.

Because of their weight police believe it would have been necessary to make a number of trips.

Anyone with information about the theft, or who may have been offered scaffolding pipes for sale at a knock-down price is urged to contact PC Hollie Smallden, on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
