Police are urging drivers to lock their car doors after a series of thefts from vehicles.

Cleveland Police say 12 cars were targeted by criminals across the Billingham area in the last few weeks.

Wallets, sat navs, mobile phones and clothes have all been stolen from vehicles in the High Grange and Wolviston Court areas.

Officers believe the incidents could be linked and are warning thieves that it is only a matter of time before they are caught.

Drivers are being urged to help police by remembering to lock car doors and windows and say that an unlocked car is an open invitation to thieves.

Anyone with information on the thefts is asked to call Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
