POLICE in Hartlepool are warning revellers to keep an eye on their mobile phones after a string of thefts from handbags in bars and clubs.

Over the last few weeks there have been seven reports of incidents where phones have been taken from unsuspecting owners, mainly in the Victoria Road area.

Sergeant Matthew Poole said: “Leaving phones unattended means thieves can not only get their clutches on some expensive equipment but more valuable information that could be damaging in the wrong hands.”
