Steetley search plan in hunt for missing dad

POLICE have recruited the help of a specialised search team as they get set to scour a derelict industrial site for clues that could lead to a missing dad.

Officers have carried out a number of search operations to find Hartlepool dad-of-three Darren Waller, who vanished on January 9.

After drawing blanks in searches across the town centre and in Crimdon, they are now preparing to go onto the former Steetley site, in the West View area of Hartlepool, tomorrow as the 36-year-old walked his dog in the area.

They will be assisted by volunteers from the Cleveland Search and Rescue Team, who are helping due to the dangers posed by the vast site.

Detective Superintendent Gordon Lang said: “Darren walked his dog around the area where the site is and we feel that it may be a significant place to search next.”

Gari Finch, from the Cleveland Search and Rescue Team, added: “We are happy to offer support to this investigation and hope that we can help to find a resolution for the family.”

Police are urging anyone with information that could help find Darren to ring (01642) 326326.

Darren’s family are also set to appear on a national TV show in an attempt to try and find him.
