A TRUSTED manager of a Hartlepool hardware store was jailed for a year today after he stole almost £30,000 from the business.

Trevor Heselton, 42, who was employed as operations manager at Charles Dickens in Tower Street, stole £29,243 over a 20-month period.

He did it by pocketing cash from the till and issuing false refund notes.

He admitted one charge of theft after his bosses discovered what he was doing and he was arrested.

The court heard the crime was committed between January 2011 and September 2012.

Heselton, of Wyverne Court, Hartlepool, was jailed for 12 months at Teesside Crown Court.
