A YOB who joined in a fight with two other men while armed with a hunting knife and taser has been jailed.

Adam Thomson, 22, was found in possession of a large hunting knife and a taser after police were called to reports of three men brawling in Jones Road, Hartlepool, on December 11, last year.

He was jailed for eight months at Teesside Crown Court after admitting possessing a prohibited weapon and bladed article.

The court heard had a history of fighting and had psychological issues made worse by abusing drink and drugs.

Jim Withyman, mitigating, for Thomson, of Jowitt Road, Hartlepool, said he was a talented footballer who made a foolish mistake but he did not use the weapons.

The Honourable Mr Justice Green said: “I don’t accept your explanation you were simply breaking up a fight and two other men ran away leaving you to pick up the weapons.”
