A COURT today heard a tearful woman’s claims that she was twice raped by a Hartlepool man.

The alleged victim, who cannot be named, claims James Pounder, 46, ripped her clothes as he forced himself on her at a town flat before dragging her into a bedroom where she says he sexually assaulted her again.

A video of her police interview made the day after the alleged attack was played to the jury at Teesside Crown Court today.

In it, she told how she met Pounder outside a parade of shops in Hartlepool when he invited her for a drink.

She agreed but said that once inside the 46-year-old started making lewd comments and said he wanted to sleep with her.

She claims Pounder then pushed her down on a sofa and had sex with her against her will.

The woman said: “I was trying to push him off. He ripped my jeans and underwear as well.

“He managed to get my jeans down so far and forced himself on me.”

She said the attack stopped after a couple of minutes and he pulled her into the bedroom where she alleges he made her perform a sex act on him.

“He dragged me by my hair and clothes,” she said. “I thought he was going to try to have sex again.

“He pushed my head down, he wouldn’t let me move it.”

Afterwards Pounder is alleged to have threatened to attack her with a garden fork if she told anyone.

“He said ‘bring anyone to this house I’m warning you, you will get this’.”

Pounder, of Bruce Crescent, denies two counts of rape.

The case continues.
