A SCHOOLBOY is in a critical condition after being hit by a taxi as he bent down to retrieve a folder as he went to board a bus.
The 16-year-old also suffered a broken leg and facial injuries when he was struck by a Skoda Octavia.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident that happened at 8am today on Northgate, on Hartlepool’s Headland, at the junction with Salter Walk.
The boy is currently being treated at the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton.
