Teenagers remain in custody after being arrested on suspicion of car burglary in Hartlepool

Two teenagers have been arrested after four vehicles were stolen overnight in numerous burglaries.

The incidents happened in close succession just after 4am on Wednesday, February 12.

Officers were called to Silverbirch Road, Hartlepool, where a black Vauxhall Astra had been stolen.

A silver Hyundai I20 and a black Vauxhall Astra were stolen in Chesham Road, Stockton, and a blue Ford Focus was stolen in Weardale Crescent, Billingham.

There were incidents on Dewberry Close, Hartlepool, and Central Avenue, Billingham, where attempts were made to steal vehicles.

All four vehicles were recovered.

At around 4.20am a 17-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man were arrested on Mill Meadon Court on suspicion of three burglaries and two attempted burglaries. They remain in police custody.

Inquiries are ongoing to find a further two males that officers want to speak to.
