Theft, speeding and assaulting a police officer: The latest cases heard in court round-up

Mark Stanley Harrison, 42, of Baden Street, Hartlepool, was jailed for 15 weeks after being found guilty of theft and admitting failing to surrender to custody. Previous suspended sentence orders were implemented.

Keith William Embleton, 32, of Annondale Crescent, Hartlepool, was fined £40 after admitting breaching a supervision order. He was also given a 12-month community order after pleaded guilty to theft from Debenhams in Middlesbrough. He was told to pay £18 in compensation.

Phillip Harrison, 46, of Allerton Close, Hartlepool, was fined £220 after it was proven he was speeding on the town’s West View Road. He was ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £30 surcharge. He was also banned from driving for 12 months due to repeat offending.

Peter Hodgson, 73, of Whitehouse Road, Billingham, was fined £160 after being found guilty of driving without insurance. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 surcharge.

Steven John Hewitson, 34, of Sheriff Street, Hartlepool, pleaded guilty to two charges of contacting someone they were ordered not to and failing to surrender to custody and was placed on an 18-month community order with 180 hours of unpaid work. He denied assaulting a police officer, but was found guilty after a trial and fined £80 and ordered to pay £620 costs and £50 compensation.
