Thief tried to steal printer

A THIEF has admitted trying to steal a high value printer from a Hartlepool food manufacturing business.

John Halse, 40, pleaded guilty to attempted theft of the printer worth almost £7,000, when he appeared at Teesside Crown Court.

He tried to steal the printer from Kerry Ingredients on the Park View Industrial Estate, Brenda Road, Hartlepool, between July 14 and 17 last year.

Rebecca Smith, mitigating, said Halse was working to beat his drug addiction and recent ill-health had been a “wake-up call”.

Recorder Andrew Haslam adjourned sentence for two weeks to see if Halse was suitable for probation and drug rehabilitation.

Halse, of Seaton Lane, Hartlepool, was remanded in custody.
