FAMILY and friends of a popular family man who tragically died are set to come together to celebrate his life and raise money for his young daughter.
A Night to Remember Mark Dixon is being organised by the 32-year-old’s cousin Gary Horton.
It is going to be emotional but at the end of it we hope to raise a good amount of money for Ella’s trust fund.
Mark, who was married to Lorraine, lost his fight for life around a week after he was assaulted in Hartlepool town centre after a rare Saturday night out last October.
The memorial night aims to raise money for a trust fund for his beloved six-year-old daughter Ella.
It takes place on Friday, April 3, at the Belle Vue Social Club and tickets are on sale now.
Gary, who is Mark’s cousin and was one of his closest friends, said: “I have called it A Night to Remember Mark and that’s what I want it to be.
“I want everyone who goes to come away with nice memories of the night and Mark.
“It is going to be emotional but at the end of it we hope to raise a good amount of money for Ella’s trust fund.
“It is all about her now. Hopefully the fund will build up over the years and be there for her when she is older.”
Mark worked for Britton Decoflex, on Hartlepool’s Oaksway Trading Estate and lived with his family in Peterlee.
One of Mark’s best friends Phil Wilson will sing on the night along with John Mcafferty and Marty Ruffle.
Hartlepool dance crew Ruff Diamond will also put on a dazzling performance.
Holding it all together will be well-known town DJ Les Watts who will act as compere for the evening which starts at 7pm.
And there are sure to be scores of great raffle and auction prizes to win after organisers have been overwhelmed with support from people and businesses.
Gary added: “When anything like Mark’s death happens everyone just seems to rally together and that’s what’s happening.
“The response in terms of the amount of people and businesses that have come forward with raffle prizes has been absolutely brilliant. I would like to say thank you to everyone.”
“A poster about the night has been put up on Facebook so hopefully we are going to get a good response.”
Tickets are priced £5 and are available from Gary now. Or anyone or businesses who wish to donate raffle prizes can contact Gary on 07909866439.
