Twelve-year-old schoolboy arrested after gang robbery leaves teenager in hospital

A 12-year-old boy has been arrested after a teenager was left needing hospital treatment when he was kicked and punched by a gang who stole his money.

Cleveland Police are appealing for information after the 13-year-old victim was assaulted and robbed outside Windlestone Road shops, in Billingham, on Friday, April 16.

The incident occurred at 9am when the victim was reportedly approached by a group of between eight and ten boys aged around 12 and 13 years old who kicked and punched him and then stole money from him.

The victim is currently receiving treatment in hospital.

Cleveland Police say an investigation is under way and that a boy aged 12 has been arrested on suspicion of robbery in connection with the incident.

Officers are appealing for anyone who saw what happened to contact Stockton CID on 101, quoting incident number 059578.
