Two arrests after police seal off Hartlepool's Hutton Avenue

Two people have been arrested after a Hartlepool street was sealed off by police for the second time in as many months.

A cordon was in place around Hutton Avenue in the town this evening.

One witness said: “They have blocked off the road.

“I heard a police officer tell one resident ‘Give me your phone number and I will ring when you can go back in’.

“They have sealed off the bottom of the road at St Paul’s Road.

“It is the same Hutton Avenue where the drug raids were.”

A Cleveland Police spokesperson confirmed two people had been arrested: “Police attended an address on Hutton Avenue in Hartlepool conducting a search warrant this afternoon and will remain at the property.

“A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with the search and currently remain in custody.

“No further information can be provided at this time whilst enquiries continue.”

The road has now reopened, though two police vans remain and officers are outside a house in the street.

A cannabis farm containing more than 300 plants and thought to be worth tens of thousands of pounds was discovered following raids by Cleveland Police on two properties in the street in June.
