TWO schoolboys have been arrested in connection with a robbery at a newsagents shop.

Police launched an investigation after the staff at Lister News (below), in Lister Street, Hartlepool, were threatened with a replica gun in a daylight attack.

The intruders escaped empty-handed after the shop owner stood up to them during the raid at around 3.50pm on Monday.

Two boys, aged 15 and 16, were arrested on suspicion of robbery and questioned at Hartlepool Police Station.

Police say the pair have now been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
