Two Hartlepool teenagers arrested for assault as man fights for life

TWO teenagers have been arrested for assault as a man is fighting for his life after being found with serious head injuries in the street.

Police have arrested two 17-year-old men from the Hartlepool area after a 24-year-old man was found unconscious in the street in the early hours of Easter Monday.

The man was found by a member of the public with significant head injuries at around 12.45am at the junction of Eskdale Road and Eaglesfield Road in Hartlepool.

He is believed to have been with friends in the Hour Glass pub until around midnight.

He was located unconscious around 45 minutes later and taken via ambulance to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough where he remains in a critical condition.

Officers arrested two 17-year-old men on suspicion of GBH and both were in police custody.

Shortly before the man was found, three people were reported to have been seen arguing and officers appealed for anyone with information regarding these people to come forward.
