POLICE investigating a suspected attempted murder have made two more arrests.
The Hartlepool Mail reported how a man in his 40s was airlifted to hospital with serious leg injuries after a street slashing at 4.15pm on Saturday, June 30.
Three men, aged 19, 25 and 33, were originally arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and bailed pending further inquiries after the violence in Monkton Road, Hartlepool.
Two further men, aged 23 and 31, have now been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and were being questioned by detectives yesterday.
The attack is said to have involved more than a dozen people and the injured man is thought to have been struck with what residents described as a “machete-type” blade.
Residents told the Mail that police were soon at the scene and cordoned off the street.
One said that two cars had pulled up at the junction of Macrae Road and Monkton Road shortly before the incident started.
