“Mark and I were together for 10 years and married for seven. We have a six-year-old daughter Ella.

“They both idolised each other and were inseparable. Mark wasn’t just her daddy, he was Ella’s best friend. They were so close they did everything together.

“Due to Mark’s shift patterns it was he who spent most of his time with Ella. He took her to and from school and it was he who read to her at night.

“Ella is totally devastated without him as am I. The hardest thing I have ever done was when we were in hospital and I had to tell my six-year-old daughter her daddy won’t be getting any better and it was time to say goodbye.

“She screamed and clung to Mark until eventually she had to be dragged away from his hospital bed.

“He looked like he was just sleeping while they kept him on life support prior to taking his organs for donation.

“Leaving him was heart-wrenching.

“Ella has been inconsolable, the person she loved most in the world has been taken away from her forever.

“She still believes daddy is coming back, I have to remind her every day that he isn’t.

“She cries herself to sleep most nights, worried about where he is, what happened to him and why he had to leave her.

“All I can do is comfort her, cuddle her, reassure her but she just misses her daddy dreadfully.

“I can only leave her for short periods of time as she is terrified I am going to leave the house one day and not come back, like her daddy.

“She talks as if Mark is still alive and begs him to come home. Not long ago she said she wanted to go on a journey to find him and bring him home.

“Her personality has totally changed, I can only hope one day my carefree little girl returns to us, I feel I have lost her too.

“We, as a family, had so many plans, hopes and dreams, these have now been taken from us.

“We were a very close family, now there is a part of our family missing from our lives forever.

“We will never get over the death of my loving husband and Ella’s devoted daddy.”
