MOTORISTS are being reminded not to leave their vehicles unlocked after a wedding dress was stolen from a car.
Hartlepool Police officers say it is especially important in the run-up to Christmas when people may have a lot of goods in their car or van.
It comes as some time between Wednesday, November 27 and Friday, November 29, a wedding dress and other items were stolen from a woman’s car in the Burn Valley area of Hartlepool.
Officers believe the vehicle had been left unlocked and they are taking the opportunity to remind people of the importance of removing valuables from vehicles and locking them when unattended.
Detective Sergeant Jo Wright said: “We know people may be out and about a lot more than normal, doing Christmas shopping and buying sometimes valuable or irreplaceable items.
“Please remember to remove anything of value from your car whenever you leave it parked up - and lock your vehicle every single time.
“In terms of the stolen wedding dress, I’d urge anyone who has perhaps seen it offered for sale or who has any other information to contact police on 101.”
