A WOMAN working for a pawnbroking firm has admitted stealing almost £25,000 from her employers.

Sharon Gill, 44, pleaded guilty yesterday on her first appearance at a preliminary hearing before Teesside Crown Court.

She admitted two charges of stealing £24,849 belonging to Ramsdens between December 1, 2012 and December 31 last year, and also to false accounting between the same dates.

Her lawyer said that his client had no previous convictions.

Robert Mochrie told the judge: “Notwithstanding that she faces a custodial sentence which could well be suspended in due course, I would ask for an adjournment of this case for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.”

Judge Michael Taylor granted the application and he remanded her on bail.

Gill, of Fielding Court, Billingham, is due back in court for sentence on March 31.
