Police are appealing for information after a 44-year-old woman was attacked as she walked with her young daughter in Hartlepool.

The incident is said to have happened in the Cedar Walk area of Dyke House when the victim was reportedly hit by a man and two women.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “As a result she sustained cuts and bruises around her face and body which later required medical attention at the One Life Centre in Hartlepool.

“The assault stopped when an unknown passer-by shouted for them to stop and the alleged offenders ran off in an unknown direction. Two unknown males who came across the victim and her daughter gave them a lift home.

“Police would like to speak to two women, one described as white, in her 20s, 5ft 3in-tall, average build with dark hair and the other woman described as white, of bigger build with blonde hair who was wearing a pink hoodie.”

A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact Detective Constable Stuart Rowbotham on the non-emergency 101 number, Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
