Woman shot in face with pellet gun

AN ELDERLY woman was shot with a pellet gun in broad daylight outside of a supermarket.

Police say she could have been seriously injured as the shot hit her close to her eye.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident outside Aldi, in Dunston Road, Hartlepool.

It took place at 3.35pm on Sunday, June 10.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “The elderly woman was hit very close to her eye, which could have resulted in a serious injury.”

She added that three boys aged around 13 years old were seen hiding in bushes at the side of the store.

One of the youths was wearing a red top and had fair hair and another of the youths had a dark complexion.
