A TALENTED young singer got the chance to perform alongside a television and stage star.
Residents turned out in force when I’m A Celebrity contestant Crissy Rock took to the stage at The Swan pub, in Billingham, last weekend.
She was supported on the night by 20-year-old Hartlepool singer Lewis Laking.
Lewis featured in the Mail last week appealing to businesses and individuals for help to drum up enough cash to send him to America on a sought-after scholarship.
Hartlepool PR man, Paul “Goffy” Gough, who organised two stand-up events starring Crissy Rock, read the article and got in touch with Lewis offering him the chance to get involved with the first show.
Lewis delivered a storming performance, impressed the crowd and Crissy and is now set to support the Benidorm actress again in Hartlepool next week.
Crissy, who lives in Peterlee and recently featured in Billingham Forum’s pantomime, said: “Lewis is a very talented performer and he gave the show a perfect start for me.
“I am delighted he is coming back to join my show next week in Hartlepool.
“He has a fantastic voice that will take him far and I hope he continues to get the breaks his talent deserves.”
Goffy added: “Trying to get a break in the industry is always difficult so I was delighted to help a lad from my town make some progress with his career.
“We have received loads of great feedback following his appearance.”
Lewis will support Crissy at the Belle Vue Way Social Club, in Kendal Road, Hartlepool, next Thursday, February 16.
Tickets, priced at £5, are available from the club on (01429) 273974 or Goffy Media on 07990 588424.
Money raised at both events will go to the charity run by Crissy’s fellow jungle contestant and Mail’s Race for Fitness backer Fatima Whitbread.
