Cyclist killed in Hartlepool road crash
A cyclist was tragically killed in a road crash in Hartlepool this evening.
Police were called to a report of a collision between a pedal cyclist and a car at 5.30pm today on the eastbound carriageway of the A689 at the Greatham turn off.
The male cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and police have launched efforts to locate the man's family.
The A689 remains closed in both directions.
A number of witnesses have been spoken to who were in the area and police are appealing for any other witnesses to contact them at Cleveland Police on 101.
A North East Ambulance Service spokesman said paramedics were scrambled to the scene at 5.23pm.
