Day of action tackles issues in another Hartlepool ward

The ‘Respect Your Neighbourhood’ campaign is led by Hartlepool Council but involves other key organisations including the Police and Fire Brigade under the banner of the Safer Hartlepool Partnership.

Officials spent a full day tackling issues of anti-social behaviour; graffiti, rubbish and dog fouling in the ward which was the latest focus of the ongoing campaign to ensure that Hartlepool neighbourhoods take pride in their area.

The day of action concentrated on the area bordered by Church Street to the north, Burn Road to the south, Stockton Road to the west and Mainsforth Terrace to the east.

The campaign focuses on a particular area of town one day a month aimed at improving local neighbourhoods and addressing residents concerns.

Prior to the day, the key organisations involved work with the Ward Councillors and members of the public to help identify issues which need tackling.

Councillor Marjorie James, Chair of the Council’s Neighbourhood Services Policy Committee, said: “No matter the extent of the issue – from anti-social behaviour and dog fouling to a missing drain cover or a loose telecoms cable – if it matters to residents, it matters to us.

“We are always grateful to people for drawing problems to our attention or making suggestions, and once again we have taken action to address them.”
