Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision which took place on the eastbound carriageway of the A689 on the outskirts of Hartlepool.
The incident involved a black Renault Clio and a vehicle which was either white or light grey in colour.
The white or light grey vehicle collided with the Clio on the roundabout next to Wynyard Village at around 7.15pm on Tuesday, September 23, causing it to spin and leaving it facing the wrong way in the carriageway.
The man driving the Clio suffered minor injuries to his back and the vehicle sustained damage to the nearside front wing and bumper.
The other vehicle made off from the scene in the direction of the A689/A19 interchange.
Any witnesses to the incident are asked to contact Acting Sergeant Mark Thomas at Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit, on the non-emergency number 101.
