A dedicated energy firm hopes that backing the Best of Hartlepool awards will underline its commitment to the town.

Utility Alliance has come on board to support the annual awards which look to honour outstanding individuals in the community.

The company, which is led by chief executive Darren Sutherland, chief operating officer Phill Moore and managing director Bob Moore, said it is looking forward to recognising deserving individuals in Hartlepool.

Ian Willis, Utility Alliance marketing manager, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer our support to the Best of Hartlepool Awards.

“As a company which was set up in the town and gone on to enjoy tremendous growth over the last couple of years, we hope our involvement in such a high-profile event like this will underline our commitment to Hartlepool.”

Once again, we are calling on people to nominate worthy winners for one of the many categories available in this year’s competition.

And for the first time we are on the lookout for talented youngsters to win the title of Young Performer of the Year.

Those nominated in that category will get to compete in their own big event in front of a live audience on Monday, October 30 at Hartlepool Sixth Form College.

The top three from the evening of great entertainment will go on to compete at the grand finale of the overall awards.

Mr Willis added: “There are lots of great categories in this competition, and we don’t envy the judges in picking the winners as there appears to be tough competition throughout all of them.

“We wish everyone who is eventually shortlisted in the Best of Hartlepool Awards all the very best of luck, and look forward to being part of what is always an excellent evening with the Hartlepool Mail team.”

This year’s awards have also been sponsored by Hartlepool and Stockton-on-Tees NHS Clinical Commissioning Group; Hartlepool Sixth Form College and Hart Biologicals, along with Stagecoach North East and Specsavers.

After the young performers’ night, the judges will meet to draw up a shortlist for all the categories in early November.

And then comes the grand final, which will be held at Hardwick Hall on Tuesday, November 21.

The deadline for all entries is Monday, October 23.
