YOUNGSTERS had some canine capers at school when they welcomed thankful visitors.
Pupils at the Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Primary School, in Rievaulx Avenue, Billingham, have been raising money for Guide Dogs for the Blind.
And they were treated to some fun with a couple of the trained animals attending school to accept a cheque for £424.
The children had reached the total by packing bags for customers in Asda, singing carols in the town centre and taking part in Fun Fridays that saw the youngsters donate £1 each to take part in themes such as mad hair, odd socks and red day.
Headteacher John Lyons said: “Over the years we have raised money for charities such as Daisychain and Catholic aid agency CAFOD and even raised enough money to send a child to Lourdes.
“The children love joining in and feel a sense of achievement knowing they have helped others.
“They particularly enjoyed the visit by the guide dogs.”
