She had launched a Just Giving campaign to raise the £2,300 she thought she would need to find to cover the cost of a heart bypass, with the funds already donated used to cover the cost of checks.

Linda, who is originally from Hartlepool and now lives in Orchid Gardens, South Shields, has sent her thanks to those who helped back her appeal.

The 54-year-old, who is mum to Holly Lee Rendell, 22, Lisa Brown, 34, and Amanda Stubbs, 37, said: “When we got the scan done they said there’s nothing they can do for him.

“I’m absolutely devastated and I think it’s going to bite that my brother has gone. But no money or operation can do anything for Dusty.

“It was a blur when they were explaining it, but he’s got breathing difficulties and the blood is going back round his heart and they can’t give him beta blockers.

“It’s just a matter of time before he has an embolism.

“I’m going to give him the best quality of life I can in his final days.”

Linda, whose brother lived in Hartlepool, has sent her thanks to those who donated through the Go Fund Me fundraising page.
