A festive fun run is back for another year and dogs are invited.
The Hartlepool and District Hospice Santa Fun Run will be held on December 6 at Ward Jackson Park with taxi firm Twenty3 are on board as sponsors.
In another new twist, canines can join in. They will even get their own Santa suit.
Dave and Cath Hudson, the owners of Twenty3, told of their delight at being involved and said: “We are very proud to support the hospice as it is an excellent local cause which is very close to our hearts.”
Among those backing the big day is Twenty3 worker Alec Gray who is looking forward to the run, together with his wife Rebecca, children Cassie and Max, and dog Elvis.
Hospice community fundraiser Janice Forbes said: “The Santa Fun Run is always a lovely way to start the festive season. It is lots of fun for all the family and now they can even bring their dog along to join in. “

The fun run has been a fundraising hit with the hospice for years and always attracts big support.

“I would like to say a huge thanks to Cath and Dave Hudson of Twenty3 taxis for very kindly sponsoring the Santa Fun Run this year.”
The run starts at 11am and is one lap of the park. Support for the event is once again being provided by Place in the Park which is the cafe within the grounds of Ward jackson Park.
After the run, entrants can tuck in to a mince pie supplied by Maria Seymour from Place in the Park.
Other attractions include a children’s choir, DJ Kevin King playing festive tunes, stalls and a tombola.
The cost of registering for the run is £7.50 for adults, who will receive a Santa suit, £5 for children under 16 who will get a Santa Hat or Antlers and a Flashing Nose and also a medal and dogs £5 who will receive a Santa Suit.
