HARTLEPOOL’S first ever boat jumble looks set to be a sail-away success.
Interest is coming in from as far away as Manchester for the event in which everything from lights to whole boats will be on sale.
The sale on Sunday, July 17, will start at 9.30am at Hartlepool’s Maritime Experience. It is being organised jointly by the HMS Trincomalee Trust and Hartlepool Borough Council, with a guiding hand from Hartlepool Marina.
It includes a jumble from 10.30am and an auction of boat and caravan goods from 1pm to 4pm in the Baltic Suite.
David McKnight, trust general manager, said: “We are getting a number of boats submitted. One man from Manchester is bringing 50 lots, all without reserve.
“People are submitting everything from glassware to masthead lights. There will be general nautical items through to chandlery stuff. Any funds made from the event will go towards the upkeep of the Trincomalee, to support Hartlepool’s Maritime Experience.
