Driver is arrested

A DRIVER was arrested after traffic police pulled him over and discovered suspected drugs in his car.

A man in his 20s was stopped by officers from Cleveland Police’s road policing crime team in the Brenda Road area of Hartlepool on Saturday at 5.30pm.

A suspicious substance was found during a search of the vehicle, which involved the unit’s sniffer dog.

The substance has been sent off for forensic analysis.

The man, who was alone, was arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs.

Acting sergeant Jason Coverdale, from the unit, said the man was bailed pending further inquiries.
