A COUNCIL-run childcare scheme has a wide range of activities on offer during the Easter holiday’s.

Oscars after-school and holiday programme based at West Rugby Club, on Catcote Road, which caters for children aged three to 16, was recently hailed as “outstanding” following a visit from Ofsted inspectors.

An action-packed schedule of fun and thrills is being held at the Hartlepool Borough council-run facility from 8am to 5.45pm between April 2 and April 12.

They include day excursions to the Angel of the North and Newcastle’s Discovery Musuem, as well as UK Superbowl, Mr Twister’s, Summerhill and Ward Jackson Park, all in Hartlepool.

Sandra Robinson, the council’s out of school co-ordinator, said: “The team have put together an excellent, varied programme of activities for the two weeks of the Easter school holidays.

“We’ve got a good range of activities including out of town trips, visits to local attractions plus the usual fun days at the Oscar Centre with everything from a mad hair day and sports activities to toy day and the Oscar’s Movie Club.

“Children have a great time with us and parents can relax knowing that their children are in safe hands.”

Sandra added that Oscars’ new venue at West Rugby Club is proving ideal for children because as well as the excellent indoor facilities, there is a large grassed area which is great for outdoor activities.

Oscars also operates an after school service which involves children being picked up from school and parents collecting them from the Catcote Road centre before 6pm.
