Lynnfield Primary School are the early front-runners in this year’s Mail-backed Shop for Schools initiative.
The school, in Grosvenor Street, Hartlepool, has received the greatest backing of the scheme to help teachers and children get their hands on lots of free new equipment so far.
Shop for Schools, run by Middleton Grange Shopping Centre, launched for another year last week.
It is easy to take part. Just take your receipts from any store in the shopping centre to the customer service desk which will give you points tokens for the equivalent of every pound you have spent.
Then just pop them through the post box for the school you want to support.
At the end of each week the tokens are totted up and the league table updated.
Every participating school or nursery will be able to chose from a wide variety of kit and equipment at the end of the initiative.
Schools’ overall points are calculated by dividing the total number by its number of pupils to ensure fairness whatever a school’s size.
But the more points a school collects, the more choice they have.
Prizes range from telescopes and sports kits to pricy digital cameras and televisions.
Last year’s table toppers were St Aidan’s Primary School, which currently sits in 17th position overall.
But there is still plenty of time to support your chosen schools. Shop for Schools runs until January 31.
Every pound spent on a Sunday is worth double the points and treble on the bank holidays of December 26 and 28.
Keep checking the Mail as well throughout the scheme for our bonus tokens.
