A STUDENT fitness instructor has scooped a prestigious award.
Danielle Lines, from Hartlepool College of Further Education, in Stockton Street, Hartlepool, won the British College CYQ Fitness Instructors competition.
Danielle also qualified for the national finals at the World Skills event.
A spokeswoman for the college said staff there are delighted at the achievements.
She said: “Hartlepool College of Further Education is delighted to announce that Danielle scooped first place.
“This is an amazing achievement given the size and quality of the competition.
“The CYQ Fitness Trainer Competition is a skills competition to reflect the knowledge and skills demanded by the active leisure sector.
“It is delivered in collaboration with British Colleges Sport (BCS).
“The competition seeks to recognise and celebrate the excellence of fitness instructors and personal trainers educated within further education colleges across the UK.”
The competition saw students applying their knowledge and skills within a creative and challenging environment.
Danielle sailed through each of the sections and wowed judges with her knowledge and understanding.
She beat off stiff competition from other competitiors and then had a nervous wait to find out whether or not she had won.
The student was delighted to find out she was the winner .
She scooped herself a certificate which she will be able to keep to remind her of how well she did in the contest.
The competition was designed to test the competitors innovation and responsiveness to client requirements.
It was also an excellent way to help prepare students for future employment.
They can also add the experience to their curriculum vitae.
The college spokeswoman added: “Our heartfelt congratulations go to Danielle.
“Our thanks go to her for bringing such pride and prestige to the College.
“She did this not only her prize but also her continued excellent work in the Luminary Fitness Suite.”
