A TEACHER could be a step away from clinching a prestigious national honour and the £150,000 prize that goes with it.

Patrick Jordan and Matt Fodorhave already won through one round of the O2 Learn Award for their production of a video on how to record a drumkit.

They filmed it on the roof of Bede Sixth Form College in Billingham where Patrick teaches music technology and colleague Matt Fodor is a trainee teacher.

They won £4,000 in March for the video and could now stand to win £50,000 and a further £100,000 for the school for coming first in the national competition.

The results of the final will be announced on Friday, October 14.

Patrick and Matt have been shortlisted alongside seven other teachers for their video lesson.

Patrick said: “It will make a huge difference for our school if we win first prize, so fingers crossed for the results in mid-October.”

Matt said: “I have been with my girlfriend Kirsty now for almost nine years and have been engaged for almost five now, but we can’t buy a house and get married for lack of money. If our video won, I would spend my share on a deposit for a house and a wedding for my patient fiancée.”
