A SECONDARY school is turning back the clock and setting up its own corridor of memories.

Former pupils at Dyke House Sports and Technology College, in Hartlepool, are being urged to hunt through their old clippings and contribute to the school’s own alumni.

Staff at the school are beginning to collect old photos and memories ready for the corridor to be set up when the school moves in to its new building, in the town’s Mapleton Road, early next year.

Staff who studied at the school before going on to become teachers are already pulling their photos and memories together and they are urging their former fellow pupils to do the same.

Helen Dawson, an English teacher at the school, has been instrumental in the organisation of the alumni.

Miss Dawson said: “Although we are moving into the new school we didn’t want to forget some of the fantastic memories from the past so we thought this would be a fantastic way of getting former pupils to share their memories and photographs with us.

“We are planning to have our Dyke House Alumni set up by next February but we are asking people to get their hand-ins to us by September which gives us plenty of time to set it up.

“The staff are really looking forward to receiving some of the photographs and memories to look back on past times at the school, I think it will look fantastic.

“Hopefully we will get some really fascinating and happy tales to go with the photographs.”

Those who contribute to the alumni are asked to provide some photographs along with their name, contact details and the year they started and finished at the school.

They should also note down bullet points of their career path since they left the school.

Staff may also invite them in for a new photograph to go with the ones from the past.

Anyone who wishes to contribute by email can do so by sending their photos and details to Helen at

For more information call Helen at the school on (01429) 266377.

Photographs and memories should be handed to the school no later than Wednesday, September 21 this year.
