SLIDESHOW: Highest marks for Dyke House

DYKE House Sports and Technology College celebrated its best ever set of results.

Three-quarters of students achieved five grades at A* to C including the all important maths and English passes.

It marks a massive 20 per cent jump in achievement by the school in just the last two years.

Principal Andrew Jordon was full of praise for the students and teaching staff.

He said: “Compared to many students eagerly awaiting their GCSE results, many Dyke House students have had quite challenging lives to date, so taken in context, this is even better news and I am thrilled to report on this kind of progress.

“Approaching 90 per cent of our students have made over three levels of progress in English and maths, significantly outstripping the national average. I am particularly pleased that the English and maths results have gone up so significantly with 80 per cent of students achieving A to C grades in both subjects.”

Rachel Bunter, 16, of Seaton Carew, was one of the college’s top performers.

She achieved five A*s, three As and a distinction.

She said: “I feel really good it’s better than I thought I was going to do.

“Next year I’m going to Hartlepool Sixth Form College.”
