STUDENTS enjoyed a glittering annual awards ceremony with over 300 accolades handed out by two special guests.
English Martyrs School and Sixth Form College in Hartlepool held its annual awards ceremony last night with former student and boxing champion Savannah Marshall giving out the prizes alongside BBC Look North reporter Stuart Whincup.
More than 300 students attended the bash - with some former pupils travelling to Hartlepool from universities as far away as Cambridge - to collect their gongs.
Headteacher Michael Lee said the event went down a storm.
He told the Mail: “We were delighted to welcome our guests of honour Stuart Whincup and former student Savannah Marshall to present awards to over 300 students.
“It’s the highlight of the school calendar and all the staff and students have been looking forward to it. We even had some students, who have now left the school and college and are studying at university, travelling all the back to collect their awards.
“That’s how much this night means to us and our students and former students.”
