A PROJECT has won a cash boost from a building firm.

West View Project in Hartlepool has received a £500 boost to help its community initiative in Wynyard, on the outskirts of Hartlepool.

Property developers Taylor Wimpey provided the donation for the project, which hosts a number of outdoor learning initiatives across the region.

The project has put the money towards books, new hammocks and Gruffalo teddies for their adventures based on the popular children’s book.

Claire Hodgson, a youth worker at West View Project, is delighted by the boost.

She said: “Outdoor learning is an extremely important part of what we do and our Gruffalo Adventures have been so successful that they have now become a part of the national curriculum within schools.

“I would like to thank Taylor Wimpey for their generous donation, it will go a long way.”

Debbie Whittingham, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire, added: “West View Project’s entire ethos is amazing and we completely agree with them in the sense that, being outdoors brings a whole new perspective to learning.”

The West View Project was set up in 1980 by local residents to create a place where children could play safely.
