VILLAGERS will gather at the weekend for an annual fair which attracts visitors from across the town.
Elwick, on the outskirts of Hartlepool, will host the summer fair on the village green this Sunday between 2pm-5pm.
The annual fair is always a popular event, and Steve Mailen - from the Elwick Millennium Association - is hoping the weather stays fine ahead of the big day to attract plenty of visitors.
Steve said: “This is something we look forward to every year.
“We always get a great turn out and people really enjoy themselves.
“It takes a quite a bit of preparation to make sure everything goes smoothly, but it’s something we take a lot of pride in.
“It’s a real team effort from various people across the village and we’re grateful to everyone who has helped us with the planning.”
Youngsters from the Hartlepool Hawks cheerleading team will put on a display, while there will also be children’s rides and a variety of stalls.
There will also be a dog show, with entries at 50p per pet.
Steve added: “There will be prizes up for grabs for the dogs such as the waggiest tail, the best presented, the scruffiest dog, so it should be fun.
“We’re just hoping it stays dry for us throughout the afternoon.”
Stalls will include cakes, plants and produce, as well as a barbecue, face painting and raffles.
Youngsters can also take a trip around the green with pony rides an added attraction.
Most of the money raised from the event goes towards staging other events which take place in the village throughout the year.
There are still some spaces left for anyone interested in manning a stall to sell their own goods throughout the fair.
