A grand finale to the summer beckons for hospice bosses as some of their biggest fundraisers draw close.
September heralds the end of the summer events for Hartlepool & District Hospice.
But it is not time to batten down the hatches yet as there is still lots coming up between now and the New Year.
It all starts with the Great North Run on Sunday, September 13.
The Hospice has more than 70 runners from the local communities, each determined to raise money for the worthy cause.
Each runner is offered a pre-run massage, evening meal and transport to the event.
Local firm Seymour’s are sponsoring the event and providing running vests for each entrant.
Hospice officials say they would like to wish each and every runner the very best of luck.
Next on the hospice events calendar is the golf day on September 18. This is an annual event which takes place at Wynyard Golf Club.
It is organised by Rob Hoskins from RK Consultancy and sponsored this year by Drive Vauxhall, Fairway Construction of Wynyard and Fine & Country Estate Agents.
Hospice officials described it as “a great event which sees teams competing at one of the North East’s finest courses”.
Later in the year, a new event has been organised to raise funds.
New this year is a one-off event. Star Wars Day will be held on November 28.
A spokesman said: “Get ready for the new Star Wars film, released in December this year, with a great opportunity to see the original three films from the 70s and 80s; Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars, Return of the Jedi.
“They will be screening at Hartlepool College of Further Education from 2.30pm. Food and refreshments will be available and fancy dress is welcomed, with a prize for the best costume.”
Tickets are £10 each, and they are available online at www.hartlepoolhospice.co.uk.
Following on from these events will be the annual festive highlights which include Light up a Life, Trees of Remembrance and the Santa Fun Run.
More information will follow on these later in the year.
