The England football team weren’t the only big winners as they thrashed home six goals against Panama.

Three Lions fans Patrick Rogan and Arnie Morgan, from Seaton, also scored a nice tidy sum after correctly predicting the team would be leading 5-0 at half-time.

Their guess has landed the pair £2010 to be shared between them after they put on a £10 bet just 10-minutes before kick-off.

Patrick said: “My mate said they would win 5-0 and I just said no way. But we put a bet on the score for the first half.

“It was a great feeling when the whistle went for half-time and we knew we’d won.

“We are over the moon. It’s the first time I’ve put a World Cup bet on and won.”

England who will now face Belgium on Thursday in their final group match have made it through to the next stage of the World Cup after belting home the goals to win 6-1 - with Harry Kane hammering home a hatrick.
