A CHRISTMAS tree collection service is being offered by Hartlepool Borough Council in the new year.
The authority will be collecting residents’ unwanted real Christmas trees for recycling from January 6 to January 30.
A council official urged people who are wanting to get rid of their real tree to put it next to their brown bin on their green/brown bin collection day during the collection period.
But the authority also stressed that Christmas wrapping paper, greetings cards containing glitter, and polystyrene packaging are amongst the items that can not currently be recycled in the grey bin.
The Household Waste Recycling Centre in Burn Road will be open 8am-4.30pm every day, except New Year’s Day.
Anyone wanting full details of what can and cannot be recycled should go to the council website at www.hartlepool.gov.uk/recycle
